PLHIV’s are helped through integrated counseling (Individual, Family, Group & Peer Counseling). We identify their needs through family visits. Based on the need assessment we continue to support them through follow up services. When needed, counseling is also offered to family members. This enhances to integrate the PLHIV into their families.
Registration
This is the first and primary activity of Vishwas. The PLHIV come from the Center for Anti-Retroviral Treatment (ART Center) and get registered at Vishwas in order to avail the services from Vishwas. During registration the PLHIV receive brief information on HIV and the various services offered by Vishwas such as counseling, OPD services, and the Nutritional support.
Counseling
A trained counselor provides one-to-one counseling and also family/ couple/ pediatric/ adolescent/peer counseling to the PLHIV on different issues and concerns. The details of the counseling are recorded in the counseling register. Counseling becomes a tool for professional assistance and guidance to resolve personal or psychological problems of the clients. The techniques adapted to counsel PLHIV include helping them – tell their stories; make informed decisions; identify and build upon their strengths; develop positive attitudes towards life; and provide them correct & appropriate information on HIV/AIDS and related issues.
OPD Services
Vishwas OPD provides special facilities thrice a week in its campus to the PLHIV. The Registered PLHIV comes to Vishwas with their ART Green Card along with the Vishwas ID Card as it facilitates the services rendered to them such as maintenance of various records – weight record, CD4 Count, and treatment details. A Medical Practitioner attends the OPD regularly, giving his services for proper medical check–up and medication. They are also given health talk on their visits.
